About

Free and open to the public, our gorgeous waterfront gallery features beautiful works from local artists including watercolor, pottery, paintings, photography, sculpture, textiles and more. Our gift shop features a broad price range of original artwork.

Unless the property has been rented for an event, the waterfront grounds are accessible daily and you are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy or bring your easel and be inspired to draw or paint the breathtaking surroundings!

Pets: We are pet friendly if your furbaby is leashed and has good, quiet manners.

Becoming a Gallery Artist/Exhibitor

To become an Exhibiting Artist you will need to submit three (3) works of original art to be professionally juried during our fall artist jury session. Upon positive recommendation by the jury, the artist is invited to become an exhibitor at our gallery.  Our open jury season is September/October.

To be considered, you will need to register below and adhere to the following rules:

  • Applicants must be a full time resident of the Gulf Coast.
  • Applicants pay a one-time $25 application fee. If approved as a gallery artist, commissions are 65/35% split. Additional information about our policies and guidelines will be sent upon request.
  • We are a city owned facility. If approved to bring your work, you will need to purchase a business license through the Finance Department next to City Hall. You will also need to fill out a W9 form to get set up as a vendor.

Please register here if you interested in being a Gallery Artist.

Art Center History

The Coastal Arts Center was, until 2015, located in the city's first hotel. Built in 1923, as a boarding-house style hotel for men who worked in the turpentine industry, it featured 11 bedrooms and a half bath upstairs. The family lived downstairs. The facility was only accessible by water until Canal Road was completed in the 1940s. Due to severe structural damage the building was torn down in spring 2015. Historical elements collected from the hotel (columns, wood flooring, doors and windows) are featured in the new gallery.

We look forward to your visit!
