During the council meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, Mayor Tony Kennon and the City Council recognized U.S. Navy Training Air Wing 5 Training Squadron 2 for its outstanding effort on October 24, 2019 in performing a flyover at the inaugural Orange Beach Makos vs. Gulf Shores Dolphins middle school football game.
On hand to accept the certificates of recognition and a key to the city were Lt. Christine "Mayhem" Hammons and Lt. Cmdr. Matthew "Bacon" Clark. Others recognized but not present were Lt. Cmdr. Jeff "Hulk" Hogan, Lt. William "Shakira" Brooks and Capt. Christopher "Riff" Miller.
The Certificate of Recogition read as follows:
Whereas, The United States Navy Training Air Wing 5 Training Squadron 2 performed a flyover at the inaugural Orange Beach Makos vs. Gulf Shores Dolphins middle school football game on October 24, 2019 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex; and
Whereas, coordination of Lieutenant Commander Hogan; and
Whereas, piloting by Lieutenant Commander Clark, Captain Miller, Lieutenant Brooks and Lieutenant Hammons; and
Whereas, without their combined efforts the special addition of the flyover to the historic day in Orange Beach would not have been possible; and
Whereas, the City of Orange Beach commends U.S. Navy Training Air Wing 5 Training Squadron 2 for its actions in support of our community.
Now, therefore, on behalf of the Mayor and Council, we recognize the crew for their outstanding service to the City of Orange Beach and the Orange Beach Makos.
