Visitors and residents in Orange Beach need to be aware that after a two-day delay the single-lane closure on Canal Road, between Ace Hardware and Cosmo’s restaurant started today - Wednesday, September 25th. This road work, associated with ALDOT’s widening of Canal Road, will require that section of the northerly westbound lane to remain closed for one to two weeks.
Also, Canal Road will be limited to one eastbound and one westbound lane on Monday and Tuesday, September 30th-October 1st, due to the need for a waterline crossing just west of the Cypress Village entrance.
What to expect: Both westbound lanes and the center turn lane on Canal Road, west of the Cypress Village entrance and in front of the new school construction site, will be closed as the waterline is installed beginning Monday, September 30th, from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Both eastbound lanes will be open for bi-directional traffic through the work zone. On Tuesday October 1st, crews will finish installing the waterline on the opposite side from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. - both eastbound lanes as well as the center turn lane will be closed. Both westbound lanes will be open for bi-directional traffic.
Please use caution in all work zones.
