The Orange Beach Adult/Senior Activity Center has announced its February 2019 Excursions and Events. Call 251-981-3440 to sign up for any of the events listed below.

February 7th at 6 p.m. - Library Lecture Series: Book Discussion with Author Sonny Brewer.

February 8th at 11:30 a.m. - “Physician Friday” with Dr. Tim Frerichs: Dr. Frerichs specializes in treating  conditions of the foot and ankle, shoulder, knee and other sports related injuries. He also specializes in arthroscopy of the foot ankle knee and shoulder. Dr. Frerichs was born in Pensacola but now calls Orange Beach home. He became interested in orthopaedics after having spine surgery at age 19.  Please call to reserve a seat.

February 13th at 8:30 a.m. - Trip to INFINITY Science Center: The INFINITY Science Center is one of the newest — and most fun — destinations for STEM learning in the region. It is a non-profit organization and serve as the official visitor center for NASA's Stennis Space Center and its resident labs and offices.  The Senior Center group will be traveling via charter bus to Perlington, Mississippi. There is a café on site for lunch. Cost per person is $40 per person, which includes transportation and entrance fee. There are seats available for 35. The trip will depart from the Orange Beach Event Center.  Sign up begins Tuesday, Jan. 29th. Payment is due at sign up. More information on the center is available at visitinfinity.com.

February 14th at 6 p.m. - Library Lecture Series: Perdido Bay Tribe History presentation by Cederbear

February 15th at Noon - “Genghis Khan: The Great Civilizer” exhibit: Take a journey back in time with one of history’s most prolific and controversial figures - Genghis Khan. Through artifacts, performers, artwork, and other historically significant items, discover the eye-opening story of the world’s most well-known conqueror, civilizer and innovator. The shuttle will depart from the Orange Beach Senior Center. Cost is $20 per person, which covers transportation and the entrance fee.  We have space available for 20. Sign up begins Tuesday, Jan. 29th. Payment due at sign up. Please be sure to have lunch before as the group will not be stopping to eat.

February 21st at 4 p.m. -  Trip - “Mardi Gras Parade in Mobile” - The Senior Center group will depart from the Orange Beach Recreation Center and travel to Mobile for the “Polka Dot Parade” that begins at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per person for charter bus transportation. Sign up begins Monday, February 4th. Payment is due at sign up.  

February 21st at 6 p.m. - Library Lecture Series: Book Discussion with local author Jennifer McCarthy.

February 22nd from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. - Free memory screening and balance test.  Walk-Ins are welcome. No appointment is needed.   

February 27th from 6-9 p.m. -  “Mardi Gras Dance” at the Orange Beach Event Center at The Wharf.  Music by John & Jim. Cost is $12 per person. Tickets are available at the Senior Center and at the door the evening of the dance.  Dress is casual to dressy but come as you like.

February 28th at 6 p.m. - Library Lecture Series: Underwater diving and relic hunting with Chris Litton.

JANUARY 2019 ARTS & CRAFTS

OPEN WORKSHOPS: Mondays - 9 a.m.-2 p.m.  

CERAMICS: Tuesdays - 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Cost is per Item.

Wine Bottle Chimes: Thursdays 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Cost is $10.

ONGOING WEEKLY ACTIVITIES

EXERCISE CLASS: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 7:45 a.m.-8:45 a.m. Cost for class is $3 for residents and $5 for non-residents.

SIT & BE FIT EXERCISE CLASS: Monday and Wednesday, 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Cost for class is $3 for residents and $5 for non-residents.

HAND & FOOT CANASTA: Monday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-Noon

MAH JONG: Monday at 1 p.m.

BRIDGE: Tuesday and Thursday, Noon-3:30 p.m.

YOGA for EVERY BODY: Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m.-9 a.m. Cost for class is $3 for residents and $5 for non-residents.

DOMINOES: Wednesday: 9:30 a.m.-Noon; and Thursday at 1 p.m.

LINE DANCING CLASS: Wednesday, 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Cost for class is $3 for residents and $5 for non-residents.
