Orange Beach library offering free HOOPLA virtual library access to patrons during COVID-19 closure

HOOPLA virtual library access being offered at Orange Beach Public Library

In order to make as many books and videos as possible available while the Orange Beach Public Library is closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the library is pleased to announce that it is providing access to HOOPLA, a virtual library with thousands of titles available to any patron with a valid Orange Beach Library card.

Instantly borrow eBooks, audiobooks, comics, movies, music and more, 24/7 with your library card.

To access HOOPLA, first create an account on their website at www.hoopladigital.com. Click “Get Started,” choose Orange Beach Public Library, enter your email and a password of your choosing, then your Orange Beach Library card number. (Your card should contain 14 digits and begin with 21067.)

Once you have created your account you can access it 24/7 from a computer or the free phone app. From their homepage, you can search by title or item type (audiobook, movies, music, comic, ebooks or television) and narrow by subject release date, most popular items, kids or adults or other ways,

Participants are able to check out 10 items per month per card. By clicking “My Hoopla” you can see your checkouts, how many titles are available and recommendations.

Though nothing takes place at the actual library, the library board and staff hope that this will at least give you some reading and listening pleasure until they can reopen to the public.

For questions, call the library at 251-981-2923.
