It was a historic day on the Alabama Gulf Coast on Friday, September 4, 2020, as the Gulf Shores Airport Authority broke ground on a long-sought air traffic control tower facility at Jack Edwards National Airport (JKA).
“We’re finally here,” Airport Manager Scott Fuller said during the ceremony, recalling the 15-year journey that made the control tower a reality.
In observance of Labor Day, non-essential city offices will be closed on Monday, September 7th.
Trash and recycling will not be affected. All routes will run as normal.
Offices will open, with normal hours, on Tuesday, September 8th.
The Orange Beach Golf Center will host the first Skins Game of the 2020-21 fall/winter season on Sunday, October 4th, and then on the first Sunday of each month through March, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The public is welcome.
There are Skins on all 18 holes, a closest-to-the-pin contest, and $250 for a hole-in-one on any of the 18 holes.
