Pardon Our Progress: Expect lane closures on Canal Road on Monday, April 27th as ALDOT’s Canal Road widening contractor will be onsite to place asphalt leveling at drainage crossings to smooth out where the roadway has settled.

The asphalt leveling will need to be placed across the entire width of the roadway at each site.  A lane closure will be required to perform the asphalt leveling.

Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control. This work is expected to be completed by the end of the work day on Monday.

During the week of April 20-24th, the contractor completed grading and temporary striping of Canal Road, between William Silvers Parkway and State Hwy. 161/Orange Beach Boulevard. Widening work will begin soon on the south side of Canal Road. There will still be two westbound lanes, one center turn lane, and one eastbound lane.

Work is expected to take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. It’s very important for drivers to slow down for the safety of all workers.

Additionally, from Monday, April 27th to Friday, May 1st, the ALDOT contractor is expected to begin work to excavate and install required drainage on the east side of Gulf Bay Road. This work will require a lane closure in the northbound lane of Gulf Bay Road.
