Pardon Our Progress: Please be aware that from Monday, April 6th to Friday, April 10th, ALDOT’s Canal Road widening contractor - conducting essential infrastructure operations as defined by the state's stay-at-home order - will be ditch grading and laying sod from around Oak Street (near Bryant Bank) to the end of the project, past Cypress Village. The work will require the closure of one westbound lane.

Work is expected to take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. One westbound and one eastbound lane will remain open at all times.

During the week, April 6-10, the contractor will have a lane closure each day in the westbound outside lane to perform final excavation and grading of the ditch on the north side of the roadway.  Placement of solid sod will follow the grading operations. The lane closure will be approximately 1,500 feet long and will be removed at the end of the work day. Each day, the lane closure will move westward in 1,500-foot increments until items associated with this work are complete.

For drivers out on the road handling essential activities, as defined by the state's stay-at-home order, it’s very important to slow down around these work areas on Canal Road for the safety of all workers.
