It’s time to Light Up Orange Beach!
The annual City of Orange Beach Christmas Tree Lighting at The Wharf will be held Tuesday, November 27th. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. and will feature a program with Santa, performers singing Christmas Carols, cookie decorating, hot chocolate, and will culminate with the Wharf Christmas Tree Lighting. “Winter at The Wharf” features an ice skating rink that will add to the festival atmosphere.
- Local businesses are encouraged to decorate and light up their offices all along Canal Road and throughout the city.
- During the tree lighting ceremony at The Wharf, the Alabama Retail Association will also kick off its “Shop Alabama for the Holidays” statewide tour.
- Also, the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber is encouraging everyone to "Shop Where You Beach" with free giveaways from local businesses. Just post a photo of your local shopping trip on social media and use the hashtag #ShopWhereYouBeach for a chance to win.
OBPD Kids' Christmas Party - December 7th
The Orange Beach Police Department invites the public to a Kids’ Christmas Party with Santa from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 7th at Magnolia Hall, behind BuzzCatz, next to Cosmo’s. Families are encourage to enjoy games, crafts and photos with Santa. Kids can wear their favorite Christmas pajamas and parents can wear their ugliest Christmas sweater! Light food and beverages will be provided.
7th Annual Merry Market - December 7th-8th
A good opportunity to use those hashtags is at the 7th Annual Merry Market on Friday and Saturday, December 7th and 8th at the Orange Beach Event Center. The hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on December 7th and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 8th. Over 70 vendors participate in this two-day event.
33rd Annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade - December 8th - (Canceled due to weather)
The 33rd Annual Nautical Night of Lights parade will begin at LuLu's at Homeport Marina in Gulf Shores at 5 p.m. Saturday, December 8th.
The parade begins at dusk and travels east on the Intracoastal Waterway toward Orange Beach, which is perfect for public viewing on the canal and at The Wharf. The boat parade will go through Wolf Bay, Bay La Launch, Arnica Bay, around Bear Point and then through Bayou St. John, Terry Cove and Ole River, ending at the Flora-Bama.
Light Up the Arts - December 13th
The Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach is hosting its annual Light Up the Arts event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 13th. The free event will include fine art, hot chocolate, fun raffles, a “Jingle Mingle Jewelry Show,” hot glass and cool clay demonstrations, and much more. Winter Wonderland on Backcountry Trail - December 19th (Rescheduled to Friday, Dec. 21 due to weather)
The Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail Foundation will host Winter Wonderland from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19th (rescheduled to Friday, Dec. 21 due to weather) at the trailhead at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. The public is invited to this free event that will include “snow,” sledding, hot chocolate, cookies and other Santa-filled fun. Along with the Backcountry Trail Foundation, the Orange Beach Coastal Resources Department coordinates this fun and festive event.
