Pardon Our Progress: Please be aware that beginning on Monday, June 22, ALDOT’s Canal Road widening contractor is scheduled to start widening operations on the south side of the roadway. A lane closure will be required for this work to be performed.

The limits of the lane closure will be between Gulf Bay Road and State Highway 161/Orange Beach Blvd. in the eastbound outside lane.

The contractor will attempt to work in 1000-foot lane closure segments. The lane closure will remain in place through this area until the required asphalt layers are in place. It is anticipated that this phase of the project will take several weeks.

It’s very important for drivers to slow down for the safety of all workers. The speed limit through the construction zone is 40 mph.
