Pardon Our Progress: Please be aware that starting on Monday and Tuesday of this week (April 13-14th), ALDOT’s Canal Road widening contractor will be finishing up necessary items of work in preparation for shifting traffic to the recently expanded and completed north side of the roadway. Work to begin the lane shift is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 15th.

Lane closures will take place daily to perform the necessary work to shift the travel lanes to the north side of the roadway. When work is complete, the new traffic pattern will be the same as the current pattern: two westbound lanes, one center turn lane, and one eastbound lane. Once all lanes have been shifted, the current eastbound lane will be closed off to begin roadwork on the south side of Canal Road, between William Silvers Parkway and State Hwy. 161/Orange Beach Boulevard.

Work is expected to take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. It’s very important for drivers to slow down for the safety of all workers.
