After a vote by his peers on the Orange Beach Surf Rescue squad, Jean Tinoco was named the 2021 Lifeguard of the Year.
Orange Beach Fire Department Beach Safety Division Chief Brett Lesinger presented the award to Tinoco at the close of the summer season. The glass award was created by artist Kerry Park of the Hot Shop at the Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach.
The Orange Beach Planning Commission is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. Monday, October 11th for a work session followed by 4 p.m. regular meeting in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
Registration for the City of Orange Beach's Youth Basketball and Flag Football 2021-22 winter season will be open from October 12 to October 29, 2021 for boys and girls ages 5-12.
The registration fee is $60.
U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R) will host satellite office hours in Orange Beach on Tuesday, October 5th. The purpose of this temporary location is to provide accessibility to constituents who might not live near one of Tuberville’s state offices.
The 2021 Orange Beach Police and Fire Community Cookout will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 30th at Waterfront Park.

It was announced on September 21, 2021 that Orange Beach Elementary was a recipient of the 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award. OBES was one of only five Alabama schools - and 325 nationwide - that earned this distinction!
During the Orange Beach City Council meeting on September 21, 2021, new Orange Beach Municipal Judge Christopher Callaghan was sworn in by current Municipal Judge Julian B. "Buddy" Brackin, who will be retiring this year after 31 years of service to the city.
