As turtle nesting season begins to ramp up along the Alabama Gulf Coast, more than 1,500 students at local elementary schools have received a copy of Linda B. Schmitz Spangrud’s new book “Miss Sandra and the Turtle People."

Residents and visitors in the southern end of the county now have quicker access to emergency care. South Baldwin Regional Medical Center’s Freestanding Emergency Department, located at 3590 Gulf Shores Parkway, will see patients beginning Saturday, May 22.

All of that extra weight got much lighter thanks to a group of young, determined and resilient student-athletes who took the AHSAA 2A State Softball Championship tournament by storm this week. They are shining stars for our city.

Central Church | Flora-Bama has partnered with Feeding the Gulf Coast to distribute free food to families and individuals in need this Saturday, May 22nd, from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot behind Orange Beach City Hall, 4099 Orange Beach Boulevard.  

This Hope for the Coast event and assistance is for all Gulf Coast residents and communities.
