A prescribed burn is scheduled to be conducted by the Alabama Forestry Commission on Gulf State Park property between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31st. The planned burn will take place east of the Orange Beach Sportsplex, south of Lauder Lane and West Oak Ridge Drive.
The City of Orange Beach will host a welcome reception for Dr. Craig Pouncey, new president of Coastal Alabama Community College, on Tuesday, January 14th at the Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach.
The public is invited to the reception that will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
The Orange Beach Golf Center will host the monthly Skins Game Tournament on Sunday, January 5th, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The public is welcome.
Orange Beach residents can dispose of live Christmas trees for recycling by placing trees, completely stripped of decorations and tinsel, on their curbs for pickup by Public Works.
In order to be recycled, trees must be stripped of all decorations and they cannot be flocked. Flocked trees are not recyclable and will not be picked up for recycling.
The Orange Beach Garden Club has named the winners of the 2019 “Light Up Orange Beach” contest.

The Monthly Community Potluck will be held on Monday, January 6th at the Orange Beach Community Center. The guest speaker will be Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon.
Mayor Kennon will speak on current, past and future city activities.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner starts at 6:30. Everyone is invited; just bring a dish to share.

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Newly renamed State Park Road will be reopened to all traffic starting on December 20, following the completion of several upgrades to make the road – formerly known as County Road 135 – safer for passenger vehicles, recreational vehicles, walkers and bikers.
A Memoir Workshop, "Making Memories into Memoirs: How to Capture & Convey Your Stories," with Karim Shamsi-Basha will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 4th at the Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach. The Orange Beach Continuing Excellence workshop is free to attend but registration is required.
The City of Orange Beach is pleased to present the 2020 Orange Beach Mardi Gras Parade to be held Tuesday, February 25 at 2:00 pm. The parade will organize at the designated lineup zone beginning west of the traffic light at Fin & Fork on Perdido Beach Boulevard (Hwy 182).
