The newly organized Makos Academics, Arts and Athletics Club (MAAAC), a non-profit formed to directly support Orange Beach children’s experiences in academics, arts and athletics, will host its first fundraiser, The MAAAC Gala, on May 11 at 7 p.m. at Perdido Beach Resort.
The Orange Beach Educational Foundation will hold a welcome reception for Orange Beach Middle School Principal Robbie Smith and Orange Beach High School Principal Erika McCoy.
“Meet the Principals” will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9th at the Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach.
The City of Orange Beach will be offering two sessions of Junior Golf Camps during spring break this year.
The Orange Beach Police Department will host a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 in the Orange Beach Police Department Lobby.
It’s an opportunity for the public to dispose of unused prescription drugs. Remove any labels on the pill bottles and place them in the police department’s drop box in the lobby of the Police Department.
The Orange Beach Planning Commission is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. Monday, March 11th for a work session followed by the 4 p.m. regular meeting in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
The 2019 Polar Bear Classic junior tennis tournament was held on February 22-24 at the Orange Beach Tennis Center and drew 61 players from New Orleans, Birmingham, Meridian (Mississippi), Dothan, Mobile, Destin, and many others cities in Baldwin County and Alabama.

The public is invited to join Orange Beach Police Chief Joe Fierro and the Police Department for Boats, Buoys & Badges from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 at West Marine.
This will be an opportunity for the public to discuss the 2019 boating season with the police department and marine division. Snacks will be provided.
The Orange Beach Recreation Center announced this week that it is extending its operating hours.
The Rec Center will be open from 7 a.m to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
With the new hours, the center is able to offer more basketball gym availability on the weekends.
