All non-essential City of Orange Beach offices will be closed on Monday, January 21st in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Trash and recycling routes will run on normal schedules and will not be affected.
City offices will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, January 22nd.
ORANGE BEACH, ALABAMA (Jan. 10, 2019) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin dredging Perdido Pass this month with work expected to take several weeks.
Heavy equipment will be on the beach and the public is asked to be respectful of the work areas. Additionally, boaters are asked to maintain a safe distance from the dredging equipment and the pipelines in the water.
Registration for Orange Beach youth baseball and softball will be open from January 16th to February 3rd.
Starting on January 16th, registration information will be available on the city website at www.orangebeachal.gov/departments/parks-recreation/youth-sports.
The Orange Beach Sports Association is excited to announce the Inaugural Basketball Jamboree on Saturday, February 9th at the Orange Beach Recreation Center.
Mardi Gras parades in Orange Beach will begin to roll with The Mystical Order of Mirams Mardi Gras Parade on Friday, March 1st. The parade begins on Perdido Beach Boulevard at 6:30 p.m. at the traffic signal just east of Phoenix West and it will end at intersection at Highway 161 and Perdido Beach Boulevard.
The Public Hearing scheduled for Tuesday, January 15, 2019 to discuss boating safety and expanding the no-wake zone in Terry Cove has been cancelled. The State of Alabama has decided to establish and enforce the no-wake zone in Terry Cove, which is shown on the attached map.
The public is invited to join Police Chief Joe Fierro and the Orange Beach Police Department for a “Badges on the Bayou” lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 29th at Tacky Jacks in Orange Beach.
Food and refreshments will be provided courtesy of Tacky Jacks, which is located at 27205 Safe Harbor Drive.
AARP is coming back to the Orange Beach Adult/Senior Activity Center and is offering free tax preparations on Tuesdays and Fridays, February 1st through April 12th. Appointments are required and appointment times are 9 a.m., 10 a.m. 11 a.m and noon. Call 251-981-3440 to schedule an appointment. This is NOT limited to those 55 and older.
The Orange Beach City Council will hold its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 8th, followed by the Committee of the Whole meeting. The meeting was rescheduled from Tuesday, January 1st due to the New Year’s Day holiday.
