November Community Potluck to feature police and fire awards ceremony

The November Community Potluck will feature the annual police and fire awards ceremony on Monday, Nov. 5 at the Orange Beach Community Center.  The Firefighter of the Year and the Officer of the Year will be announced.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner starts at 6:30. Everyone is invited; just bring a dish or dessert to share.

Friday, Oct. 26, 2018 Update: All paving was finished on Wednesday, Oct. 24, according to Public Works Director Tim Tucker. Temporary striping has been done on a few streets and after the new asphalt settles in the next few weeks, permanent striping will be added, Tucker said.

The Orange Beach Recreation Center will host a Self-Defense Seminar for women and teen girls at 6:30 p.m. Monday, October 8th.

Instructors will be Chris Wheeles of Wheeles Karate and Orange Beach Police Detective Lisa Johnson.

Childcare will be provided. Registration is not required and there is NO COST. 

The Orange Beach Recreation Center is at 4849 Wilson Blvd.

18 city streets to be repaved by end of year; work to begin on West Oak Ridge Drive

Before the end of the year, 18 city streets will be repaved as the Orange Beach City Council voted on Tuesday, Sept. 18th, to approve a low bid of $380,000 to Roads Inc. of NWF.

With the original bid for coming in under budget at $380,000, three more streets were added for $22,768 in a change order approved by the City Council on Tuesday, Oct. 2nd.
