The City of Orange Beach Relay for Life Team is gearing up for the last of three Full Moon Paddles for the summer season. The next paddle is scheduled for Sunday, August 26th. The paddles have become the number one fundraising effort for the Orange Beach Team.
Registration is underway for the City of Orange Beach’s Expect Excellence After School Program.
The Expect Excellence Program is an after-school opportunity for third to 12th grade students at the Orange Beach Recreation Center to train and excel in athletics, academics, and the arts. It is available for virtual and homeschool students in Orange Beach as well.
Another summer session of hunter education wrapped up in Orange Beach on Wednesday, July 25th.
The annual Junior Marksmanship Program for children 8 to 15 kicked off in early June with clay shooting followed by shooting rifles and archery.

Honestly, I’m not surprised that Alabama saltwater anglers caught so many red snapper in six-plus weeks that the private recreational season had to close earlier than planned.
Congratulations to Brian and Jodi Harsany of Cobalt The Restaurant and Charlene Haber at Wolf Bay Lodge for earning Alabama Retailer of the Year accolades.
Both restaurants will win a gold, silver or bronze 2018 Retailer of the Year Award in their respective category, which is based on annual sales, later this year. The program is sponsored by the Alabama Retail Association.

The United States Professional Tennis Association recently awarded Orange Beach Tennis Center Coordinator Rhett Russell a Level I Certificate of Achievement for earning 11 credits in the Association’s 2017 Career Development Program.
Gulf Shores, Ala. – July 10, 2018 – Saunders Yachtworks and Maverick Yachts of Costa Rica have entered into an agreement to build sportfishing yachts for the U.S. market.
Maverick will construct the cold-molded hulls and vessel superstructure at the company’s facility in Herradura, Costa Rica. Saunders will outfit the yacht at its boatyard in Gulf Shores, Ala.
