NOTICE: The Waterfront Park Pier is closed until further notice due to damage sustained during Hurricane Sally. The park remains open but the pier is closed. There is no date on when the pier will be rebuilt and reopened.
Open to the public year-round, this beautiful family park is located on scenic Wolf Bay. The Edward H. Carroll, Sr. Kids Park playground is also part of the Waterfront Park. Amenities include a 400’ fishing pier with covered pavilions and seating (pier currently closed due to Hurricane Sally damage), picnic shelters with grills, restrooms, paved walking path and parking. It is the perfect photograph opportunity with Wolf Bay as a backdrop. The lighted Kids Park will reopen in July 2021 after it is completely renovated.
UPDATE: NEW KIDS PARK PLAYGROUND TO OPEN IN EARLY FALL 2021
The playground at the Edward H. Carroll, Sr. Kids Park at Waterfront Park is being completely renovated. The old playground equipment was removed in late May 2021 so the site could be prepped by Public Works crews.
In April, the Orange Beach City Council approved a redesign and rebuild proposal for the Kids Park playground from Playworld Preferred, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $409,924.00. After various delays due to a plant fire at the Playworld manufacturing facility, work is now expected to begin in late August and be complete by early October, weather permitting.
See more photos of the playground design on the City's Facebook page.
Waterfront Park is many times used for events and special celebrations such as weddings, birthday parties, etc. The park cannot be 'reserved' for exclusive use since it is a public park but we do encourage those who are wishing to use the facilities to call the Parks & Recreation office at 251-981-6039 to at least apprise us of your intended use. Your name and date of use will be recorded on a calendar to hopefully alleviate problems with overlapping events.
